Accommodation… 

The White House, part of which dates back to early Georgian times (1720), is the home of Annie and Christopher Nicholl - your 'homestay' hosts. 

The garden borders the ‘towpath’ (= a path beside a canal or river, used especially in the past by horses pulling boats) at one of the ‘locks’ (= a length of water with gates at each end where the level of water can be changed to allow boats to move between parts of a canal or river which are at different heights) of the famous Kennet & Avon Canal which joins London in the east, via the river Thames, with Bristol in the west. 

A large, comfortable drawing room provides plenty of space for our Students to relax when not studying English or after a busy afternoon sightseeing, shopping or taking part in one of the sporting activities. 

We specialize in one-to-one tuition but can accommodate up to four Students in a Family Group, if desired. 

The house was extensively renovated in 2007 so our Students enjoy a very high standard of accommodation and comfort. 

Bedrooms…
 
There are two double or twin-bedded rooms, both with top quality, very comfortable, king-size beds.  Both rooms have en-suite (private) toilet, wash basin and luxury shower rooms.  

Each bedroom is equipped with flat-screen LCD TV and DVD player, broadband wireless internet connection, radio alarm clock, tea/coffee-making facilities, hair drier, bathrobes, shaver point (with continental adaptors), a selection of books, magazines, DVDs and other useful items to make your stay as enjoyable as possible. 




and Meals…
 
Forget what you have heard about British food not being good.  It can be superb – particularly at The White House!

Annie is an excellent cook having, in the past, cooked professionally for a London restaurant and City Directors’ lunches!

As part of your 'course', we will 'eat out' at least once during your stay at one of our local pubs or restaurants.

And, if you really want a very, very special meal and the finest wines, you can treat yourself (sorry - not included in our Course tariff) to the gastronomic delights of the Michelin-starred restaurant, The Harrow, (only 200 metres from The White House).

Special dietary requirements…
 
Eating very well and drinking good beer and wine are an essential 'ingredient' for ‘Learning English on Holiday’!  But please let us know in advance if you have special dietary requirements. 

Breakfast, lunch and evening meal are provided every day (unless you choose, at your own expense, to go to one of the many excellent pubs and restaurants in the area).  Meals are served either in the Conservatory or in the Dining Room - or a packed/picnic lunch if you are going on an excursion.
